In Diessenhofen

First full day of cycling completed.

There was a minor glitch in that the promised welcome package was not at my starting point as expected.  I suddenly realized that I did not have vouchers for ferries and the boat trip so I called the company.  On a whim I decided to check on my parked bicycle last night and found the package outside my door so I quickly revised my tentative route on the GPS to match theirs.

Up this morning early, put my bag in reception for transfer and set out. A few little miscues in the middle of Konstanz but I cleared them and made my way to the Island of Reichenau.  I had to wait for the 12:06 ferry on which there were a few others making the same tour. We did a little Deutsch/English combo conversation.

The ferry dropped us off at Gaienhofen where I grabbed a quick drink before setting out for Stein-am-Rhein and finally Diessenhofen from were I am typing this.

There isn't an inch of wasted agricultural space here. Reichenau is loaded with greenhouses, orchards, fields and vineyards.  This is the church with its colourful apron.

(Again, clicking any picture will open it larger in a separate window)

And a bit of fruit plants (unidentified)

The colourful and historic main street of Stein-am-Rhein (a movie will follow)

Diessenhofen, as I approach on the North shore of the Rhein.

and finally, the movie,
